## Usage Details

### Hours of Usage

Usage is measured in active interaction hours:

* **Active interaction time**: When Machine is actively working on tasks for you
* **Idle time**: Not counted against your usage limit
* **Background tasks**: Count as active time even when you're not directly interacting

  Usage does not roll over from month to month. Your usage resets on your billing date.

### Storage Capacity

Storage limits apply to all files created or uploaded within Machine:

* **File uploads**: Count against your storage limit
* **Generated content**: Files created by Machine count against your limit
* **Archives**: You can archive files to free up active storage space

## Upgrading and Downgrading

You can change your plan at any time from your account settings:

* **Upgrades**: Take effect immediately, with prorated billing for the remainder of your current billing cycle
* **Downgrades**: Take effect at the end of your current billing cycle
* **Enterprise transitions**: Require coordination with our department

    If you approach your usage limit, you'll receive notifications at 80% and 95% of your allocation. If you exceed your limit, you have two options:

    1. Purchase additional usage for the current month

    We'll never automatically charge you for overages without your approval.
